Prototype

Clickable preview of a website or app

What is Prototype?

A prototype is an interactive model of a website or application that lets you try navigation and key steps without building the whole solution. It links individual screens so that clicking a button shows the next one. It can be simple, made of wireframes, or detailed, with the final design and animations. It is most often created in tools like Figma. It is used to test ideas with the client and real users.

Why It Matters

A prototype verifies that a solution is easy to understand before its development is paid for. Testing with users shows where they get lost or don't know how to continue. Fixing a problem in a prototype is far cheaper than in a finished application. The client and developers share the same picture of how the system should work. For internal tools and configurators, a prototype saves both time and budget.

Real-World Examples

  • 1A clickable e-shop checkout flow in Figma.
  • 2A product configurator preview before it is developed.
  • 3Testing website navigation with five users.
  • 4A prototype of an internal order-tracking app.
  • 5Presenting a new mobile app to investors.
